I am so glad that everyone is ok. It was hard not having internet or cable to see how the storm affected all my hs friends.
Jen, our local radio and tv station are having a big food drive and we took tons done there and the boxes for filling up. they are getting alot of help from this area, not just food, batteries, diapers all that kind of stuff.
FYI Here is some before and after pictures of the coast. http://geology.com/usgs/hurricane-ike-pictures.shtml
Glad to hear that you all are alive! I wish you all the best recovering from the hurricane! Not much is on the news these days about the hurricane, clean up and/or recovery. What I'm getting here is all about the stock market/Wall St. issues, the Presidential election and the train wreck in CA. A side note...my sister's fiance's family is from Houston/Galveston. I guess his grandma's house and yacht is/was in Galveston Bay. I haven't heard any updates on what it's like down there by her house though.
The eye of the hurricane came right up the Galveston Bay... Everything on both sides and up north near I-10 at Baytown got damage of varying degrees. So I am sure they got some damage. We are 50 miles from the bay and got damage. So....
WOW! I've been off-line mostly and haven't heard all this news or seen your reports. I've been praying though! Last winter we had flooding near here, and we were able to help out others as well. That's what people need to do in these times! I so wish we were closer and could help! Thanks for all the updates and advice Jen and others! I will continue to pray for you all--that you stay safe and that people get the help they need!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, Jennifer, thanks for sharing! I am laughing so hard. Why is this so funny? I do not know. It actually makes sense. Pudding snacks do not need to be refrigerated. I guess there is something about pudding snacks!
Does anyone know if the gas is still difficult to get in Houston? I have some homeschool friends that are suppose to be going to the Houston space center so not sure how that area is and if they should still go or not? All the signs in San Antonio are still saying not to go.
Our number is almost the same as one of our high schools. In fact, we have the same numbers but two numbers are turned around. Everything else is the same. So we get calls a few times a week for the school. When it snows, we are flooded with calls of people wanting to know if the school is closed.
