If it's ok with all of you, I'd like it to be on a Saturday. I fall asleep when I drive, so I can't go on long trips by myself. And my DH started a new job this summer, so he doesn't have vacation time yet.

How does either October 6th, 13th, or 20th sound to you?

We've been discussing Waco... Does it sound good to you all? Or would Austin or San Antonio or New Braunfels be better?

If we have more ladies closer to the southern part of Texas as oppossed to the north then Austin would be good. Lots to do there. I'll go anywhere although I may need to scrimp and save for the hotel room. One of those weekends in October we are going to the Ren Fest in Plantersville and I am so excited I haven't been in 4 years. I am going to dress up like a fairie with the girls.

Okay I've been checking where everyone is from and checking the map to see what is central to us all. Either Austin or Waco are our best choices although I do love New Braunfels because of Natural Bridge Caverns. Now I know a TON of things to do in Austin - activities and really cool places to eat. I know nothing about Waco at all. Does anyone know anything about that city?

I am so jealous of all you being able to get together. Just wait till my boys graduate next spring and then I will try twisting Freddy's arm to travel some. Oh shoot! How will I be able to get Babyboy's mother let him go with me? I can't leave him! Oh well. BIG SIGH! You all have fun and make pictures! Beth

    I'm in!

    October sounds perfect.

(My only problem is that DH is back at full-time and he runs a convention center/performance hall and these hours are "Entertainment" hours, meaning weekends and nights.... But it is possible to get a saturday off. We would just have to know which one, so that we could arrange it.)

Waco or Austin makes no difference.

    Saturday is perfect!

We're easy! A simple park with a picnic style snack lunch would be enough.

I doubt we will even need an "Event" or "Tourist Trap" thing to worry about because we will spend all of our cash getting there and back, and goodness knows we ladies are just gonna gab and snap photos the whole time, while the kiddos play and the men folk nap in the car! hahahahaha!

So, something simple for an activity would be fine with me. Dr Pepper plant sounds cool! (Could be "Perfect" if it were a Mr Pibb Plant, but you can't have everything in your SODA tour,eh?)

    heee heee heeee!

I've never been to either place. But anything is fine with me. I think October is better for me though. But whatever I'll work it out. You guys decide and I'll start batting my eyes at hubby so he will let me go. Will there be any husbands going? Mine won't let me drive that far by myself.

My DH has to go with me.
    So, count one in.

He's friendly and likes to meet new people. Although as with most men, he is relatively reserved when first meeting people and takes a little time to get comfortable and warmed up to the group.

He loves history and current events and discussing how things are made. Not much of a sports guy but considering he runs sports arenas, he usually has plenty to talk about.

Whomever is able to bring their DH's speak up! I think they need support contacts, too!

I know what conversation #1 will be about"
"So, YOUR wife also drives you crazy with all the Curriculum Sales stuff, too??! I thought I was the only one!" hahaha!

My DH will be coming, too. He isn't into sports at all (when sports are on at our house, it's because I turned them on!), but he knows people your DH knows, Jen, so maybe they'll hit it off. (Or not, I suppose, depending on your DH's opinion of Charles' friends...)

So.. either Austin or Waco seem to work well for everyone. Does anyone have any strong opinions either way, or shall we toss a coin? :D

I think this sounds wonderful, I have to agree with Jen, I think a park would be wonderful with all the driving and being a Saturday there isn't much to do.. I want a Saturday too, as my DH will be coming and he doesn't like sports either, he loves history, Math and things like that... The only Saturday I can't do is Oct. 13 other then that we are free... I think this is going to be alot of fun.. I was dh about this last night before he went to bed and he thought it was neat..

Okay there is this really cool park in Austin but I can't remember the name of it. I will call my ex husband to find out. He lives in Austin. I think that would be a great place to go. We could do a picnic like Jen said and just gab and let kids play! I'll find out the name of the park and if there is a website I'll link to it. We just need to settle on a date and a city!

If my dh isn't working he will come too. He loves sports! Especially football. He lives for football season.

My dh is only off the weekend of the 27th. I know I wouldn't drive to Austin by myself (since I know nothing about TX), but I may not be able to participate anyway.

Pretty much any Saturday in October will work for me. I will go without dh if he is working. I grew up around here so I know my way around! We are going to plan a Saturday in October to go to Ren Fest in Plantersville but I will plan that trip around this one. I say the ladies who need a specific date work it out and let me know. I tried to call my ex husband to find out the name of the park but he is out of the office so I left a message for him.

I've been wanting to go the Renaissance Festival since I moved down here, Tiffany. We should have gone before we had the girls: I don't think they're quite ready for it yet.. Maybe in a couple of years. :)

We took Samantha when she was 7. Grace was a baby and stayed with grandma. Samantha dress as a fairie and went to the fairie picnic. It was great! My best friend worked there for like 6 years as Queen of the Fairies. She hasn't done that in years though. When we go I am goign to borrow one of her dresses to wear.
