Hey, one year in Wa state, when I was single... I found a tree at a lot on Christmas Eve, it was left over tree from the lot the guy had pulled up stakes and left two trees! That was a blessing!
Of course I had my turn at cutting down a tree too! I lived on an old Camp Ground Church ground. THe youth pastor helped me look through the woods and find a tree.. it was truely a CB tree! He chopped it with an old machetie he had and from his Military days lol. I took that tree home and made a stand with a coffee can and some rocks and water!
Lots of fun! I had to put plastic down too because I had only hard wood floors!
I decorated it with mostly home made from the kids at the preschool I worked at type ornaments. I put all the gifts the kids brought to me and anyone else too under it. I think thats the year I met my hubby.. my Christmas Day was alone, but I got to have awonderful Christmas Eve with Hubby's family( then I knew his family more than I knew him of course hehe)
    Sigh, I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
    HUGS! to everyone! heheh
    Sigh****~***~** twidderpid!

I remember when my kids were little, they wanted to cut down a tree. Being the super mom I wanted to be, (I was a single mom then) we went to a tree farm - it was snowing real hard that day - we treked through the snow and trees and every tree we looked at wasn't right for some reason. I was tired and cold and they were too. We finally found the "right" tree - now Super Mom had to cut it down. (I am only 5' tall and at that time 100 pounds) well, any way I got on that cold ground and started sawing, the children were complaining because it took so long and they were cold. I finally sawed until I couldn't do it any more - then I got on the high side of the tree and jumped on it. It broke - at the base where I had been sawing - we took our tree home. It did look great once we got it home!!! We still laugh every year about that. Funny now, not so funny then.

Oh I forgot, our tree goes up Friday after lunch. My daughter and all the kids will help. It will be fun - Oh, the next year I bought a fake tree - I bought another one last year - all the lights stay on it. I'm getting older:)

    TeacherMom,

I was totally empathizing with the ant thing! We had to keep all food in sealed containers when we lived in our apt. Ants were everywhere! And it didn't matter HOW clean and fastidious we were, it was just part of living in those apartments. *sigh* Can't tell you how many mornings the neighbors would set THEIR open, half-full box(of cereal, but completely full of ANTS) out by OUR front door because they did not store their food in sealed containers. I am SO glad to be living in a house nowAnts drive me CRAZY! And I guess I meant to say "How horrible for you!". So sorry:D , please don't take offense.

Bev, I think those wonderful Texas bugs get everywhere, house, apt. anything they find a way.
Everything Has to be store in containers, never the boxes they come in or you will have lots of wonderful friends visitng. Even if you didn't invite them.

In WA state, near the University, they spray the trees with a "skunk" smell, if the kids cut one down it stinks up as soon as it warms up.

I didn't get mine up yet, but I think today we will get started! We first had to make the kids rooms "mommmy clean" So had to wait a couple days of them working on it before I go in and say No, not good enough , Lol, itsusually not great big things, just toys that got stuffed instead of sorted or dressers that became catch alls but seems kids will make a mountain out of anything hehe.
We will try to get one up tomorrow!
    a pic that is!

OUrs is fake too, I only have one location left for my tree, so have to move my rocker and my file cabinet that has become a pretty table top and put it there I think.
Hubby does a great job with getting deals of furniture but does not think about where other things will go when we get a new one....

We rearranged things last year, and decided we liked the couch better there. That means this year, all we have to do is move the small coffee table. My Big Game Hunter just left to go deer hunting in southern Ohio. His cousin own half a mountain down there, his aunt owns the other half. He'll be gone until late Monday (unless he gets lucky!!!). Hopefully, we'll get the tree up as soon as he gets back. Ours is artificial, too!

My tree has been up since the day before Thanksgiving. I do not have any way to post it otherwise I would love to do it. This year we placed it in front of the front window. It took a lot of moving things back and forth but we found a way that works. I just thought, maybe my sister can post the picture for me. Hope so!!!:D

We won't be able to get our tree up for a couple of weeks. We go to a local tree farm and cut ours down. But the hubby is in Sydney on business for two weeks, so we'll have to wait until he returns. (He's packing shorts since they're starting summer there...bummer.) We love the smell of a real tree and the adventure of finding just the right one.
