ours is up wiht lights thats as far as we will get tonight, we are all so worn out from this weeks festivities! Tomorrow is church and Monday I may have to start back to working for my three day school days. I kind of hope so if my lap top is working! Other wise I will have to work around that on bookworking again, sigh. We will put ornaments up tomorrow and then dh goes back to work tomorrow night. I will get picture taken and on however I do it tomorrow too! YEaaaaaaaaaa if nothing else I can post it as an avitar hehe, but I am sure my ds9 can teach me how to do posting pictures too!
Oh, T'Mom!!! I love the thought of your DS teaching you how to do it!!! Carl "taught" me, but he pretty much needs to remind me again each time I go to do it!
I'm going to work on outside lights tomorrow and if there is time we will be putting up the tree tomorrow too.
Our tree goes up tomorrow I hope, the outside is complete, topiaries are still a work in progress(here's hoping for next year LOL) and I got some fresh pine branches for the top of my china cabinet from my neighbor that was cutting the tree down. I popped over and said "do you mind if I take a few branches?" LOL then the wife wanted to know what I was doing with them so when I finished the china cabinet I took a pic and showed her..she loved it and is doing the same in her house. I took a big ol crystal bowl and put some red and gold bulbs in it and am going to add some greenery from next door in the bowl to give another color. I Love xmas!! I love to decorate my house! Ohh and we strung PURPLE lights in Madison's window in her room..after xmas she wants me to hang them on her wall..ohh my! lol
DH and I have a different idea of how lights go on a tree, so, we do it (mostly him) then the kids and I put on the ornaments, DH does all the lights outside.--I untangle them and test them and make hot chocolate.
I'm looking for tree pictures too. Maybe they'll inspire me! We just got back from our trip, so haven't even thought of it yet---until reading this thread again. Hope ya'll can figure out how to post your tree pictures! Ohio Gma, I like your tree!!!
Tomorrow is our little family holiday putting up the tree! My kids are so excited! I just hope the tree is in good condition. I noticed last time I was in the basement storage room, that my dh didn't put it back with care. Geesh. He is not the tree loving kind of guy. lol.
I like the idea of the bowl with ornaments and cuttings in it! I am going to gather cuttings from a lot this week and do a table center piece... somehow, not sure what exactly but ds9 wants that real tree smell in the house so I want to do it. Dd has her tree up in her room, if ds gets his dresser a little more finished he gets one too! they were only a dollar each too! fun!
Well mines up, we still need to put the lights and things on. I woke up to a sick dog yesterday, so at 6am I was cleaning carpets. We got the outside done and started working on the inside but then time ran out. So tonight we will be finishing the tree. When I put up the tree we are missing a leg. I put some old telephone books under that side so I hope it doesn't fall over.
Our tree was finished yesterday. Id love to share a picture but cant, dont have the software for my digital..anyways. I got all 500 lights on it, plugged in the angel and the lights went OUT but 50, I was NOT happy! the lights were brand new so I messed with them for about 20 min and they all came back on...10more min of that and the whole tree was headed towards the dumpster LOL. I let Madison help me to some extent but Im pretty anal about my tree, it always looks the same and I love it! I have ornaments from when I was a child, I have 2-1976 hallmark ornaments, some I made, special things that I can tell every story behind them..I just love my tree LOL As soon as I get my sister's digital over here I'll post some pictures!
Addmition of Guilt: We never got Eva an ornament from when she was born, I found one at my mom's store this year and I'm going to write her name and birth year on it. I'm not sure what I'll tell her. (she did get one from the year she was born but it was from my aunt)
Emma has her own little tree she gets to decorate. We used to decorate the big tree but she wanted her own so we bought her a small tree. It is rather flashy and homely at the same time with a hint of a woodsy feel and my mil's old angel to top it off. Her colors were bright pink at first and then she added paper crafts to it and some ornaments a friend at church gave her when she heard Ems had her own tree. She picked pine cones from the trees out back and also put them on the tree. It is so cute because it expresses her and she feels special because she gets to decorate her own tree. Patty
That is so cute! My two home schooled kids ( 15.5 yr old ds didn't express interest) have a mini tree in each of thier rooms. They have the tiny ornaments that they made us years back and some special smaller sized ones, then some garlandish stuff like teddy bear strings and tin soldiers and beads.... an angel tops both of them , home made from clothespins and beads and pipe cleaners. They had to clean thier rooms to gain this honor, one will have to be recleaned tomorrow but the other one is doing good at keeping it that way! What fun!
