I don't have to worry about my son suddenly turning mean, like my friend says kids mysteriously do around school-age.

If my boys suddenly decide butterflies are the most interesting things in the universe, then by golly we'll study the heck out of butterflies!

My kids don't have to sit at desks all day and be totally silent. They can take a book to the swing or under a tree. They can do math on the floor and learn to cook during the lunch hour.

I have a better chance of having a close relationship with my girls once they hit the teen years.

While others in sitting in the classroom looking out into the woods, we are in the woods going for a walk. ( I have started to outgrow my fear of walking in the woods here)

We can be anti-socialization... err... at least the PS kind of "socialization" that has no use in the real world.

Are we married to the same man? LOL. I guess from his point of view I would hate it if I walked in the door and my family was still in jammies. lol. In fact, right now...it is 2pm and I am still in mine and my kids just changed. Of course, I do have a sick little one..think that will be a good excuse? That brings me to another reason to hs........

No worries about sick days...no calling off work...no panicing about day care or school....kids never behind due to sick days!

What does this say about me: I took a shower this morning and put clean jammies on...lol. It's just too hot and I wanted to be comfortable.

    And....

I get to make our school schedule around Eli's Circadian Rhythm, not around someone else's outdated ideas about when children "should" learn best.
