A word of encouragement. Today, I went to see my doctor for an annual physical. For the last few years, I've had to take medication daily to address slightly elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Over the last year, I've changed my diet quite a bit, and I try to exercise most days (walking or running 5 miles). At today's appointment, the doctor asked me to stop taking these two medications for a month, because he believes I no longer need them. In his words, losing several pounds can make a big difference - so stick with it. Needless to say, I was very pleased.
After being stuck for a few days I have finally lost again. I am down 25 pounds since I started and feel so much better. Actually I wasn't feeling bad but now I feel stronger. I am walking and using hand weights. I want to lose another twenty pounds at least.
Great job!! You are doing great!! I weigh tonight so I will see how the week went for me. ... I really wish we had a like button on here, it would help to let others know we are paying attention without typing a long response. lol
I'm starting completely over with last week's beginning weight. I fluctuated back and forth before that, so I'm just starting there. I lost 1.6 pounds last week. I exercised 20-30 min. six days last week. I did well with drinking water, but did have diet soda (which I don't even like!!) this weekend.
I am starting my fourth week of being good. I told myself I was not allowed to weigh every week. But, I couldn't hold out any longer. My jeans that I wear regularly (well 2 of exactly the same jeans) were feeling loose last week. I thought maybe one pair was stretched out, but put on the others and same loose feeling. Love it. So, I gave in and stepped on the scale. Down 6 pounds in 3 weeks. My goal was 10 pounds in 10 weeks, so I am off to a great start. I am just being really good about what I am eating and getting more active. My big one is just one serving of dinner and no candy after. I eat cereal every morning and am careful about lunch.
Back down to my 6 lbs loss after gaining a few back. feels good! I just need to keep watching what I eat and not snacking!
I haven't been quite as good today- had some Reese's cups and made comfort food (fried potatoes, onions, and sausage) for supper. I'm planning better for the rest of the week. Tonight we had 3 kids out for activities, and cooking time was short.
Weigh in went well last night. I have lost 20 lbs since Jan 2nd! I need to get in more exercise which is hard when you have so much school time seated. We are on spring break but the weather is horrible. I hope it clears up soon!
I have to have snacks between meals to keep my blood sugar from and making me feel awful. I eat smaller meals and have Greek yogurt, an orange or 1 ounce of pretzels for a snack. It keeps me going and I feel better. Drinking tons of water and being much more active. Have a great day everyone!
After 2 weeks of sticking very close to a healthy diet and exercising more, I'm down 3 pounds. I'm OK with that. I'd rather it be slow and involve a whole lifestyle change than lose a lot on a diet and gain it back. I did have someone ask me this weekend if I had lost weight. I don't think 3 pounds makes enough difference to tell, but it made me feel good! I'm thinking I might need to measure and compare, because I am focusing on some strength training. Muscle weighs more than fat, so I need to keep that in perspective.
I agree about not just looking at the number on the scale. I was thrilled last week when clothes felt roomier. I also pulled out my clothes that were a size down and abandoned for over a year or two. I had fun this weekend trying them on again. Most fit, some were still a little snug. I'll gladly take it.
I don't know whether others feel the same way, but I most definitely feel bloated when I revert to my former eating habits. Just one meal is enough to do it, and I feel uncomfortable for the rest of the day. It's quite an encouragement, actually.
I had a fast food burger and fries for the first time in months today while making the trip home from the orthodontist. I felt sick soon after eating it! It did make me feel good to know that eating healthy means feeling better.
So nice when people notice you are losing weight. Saw a lady yesterday that asked if I had lost weight. Sure makes you feel it is worth it!
That is wonderful! I am still hanging in there and really getting used to drinking so much water. That was a huge step for me. I was addicted to Diet Coke. I also have found out I love walking and using my hand weights. I have a bicycle but haven't had it out yet this Spring. Allergies are killing me right now so I just haven't made the effort. This may sound strange but I feel cleaner eating better and not eating fried food or junk food.
Slowly getting back at it. I discovered I'm an emotional eater (didn't realize I was) so I've been carefully watching/planning what I eat but more over I've laced up the sneakers and hitting the pavement again. Wanted to walk more today but a screaming bladder put a halt to that plan (Note to self: bathroom BEFORE you leave again)
I have always been an emotional eater. That is how I gained 40 pounds back when Bobby was in the Army! My sister and I joke that we eat for any emotion though. We say we have never been too happy, sad, upset, worried or anything to not want to eat and rarely too sick to eat. Sad but true.
I haven't lost anything or gained anything which is both good and bad. Of course I am not exercising right now, but I am watching what I eat. I need to start exercising again so I can continue to lose some more.
