I agree Beth, just move on from here! I had that donut remember? It's just something that happens sometimes, then we just go on and try harder! Sometimes doing that is a little reward for the hard work and progress we've made---as long as we don't start rewarding ourselves at every meal!!!

Hey Carol, WAY TO GO! Sounds like you're doing great!

'Sorry to hear about Crystal. I know sometimes I eat to relieve stress. Eating does put endorphins (hormones that make you feel better) into your body; so it's easy to understand why we rely on food for more than nutrition.

OK, now I'm jealous! I wish there was a machine like that around here, Deena! That place sounds so neat!

Kyzg, how are you coming on your goals? I've been thinking of you. There are some pretty ambitious gals on here--some who've been working at it for a while & then have to work even harder on a plateau. I hope that fact isn't intimidating you. If you're just beginning, a walk around the block or even parking farther from a store might be a good place to start. Deciding to do surgery would be courageous, too. Have you picked a date? I'ts so encouraging to have others clap and cheer for you on this thread! Thank you for starting it, and we'd like to clap & cheer for you, too. Let us know how you're doing.

Yes, I was wondering how you are doing, too. Please keep us posted on any decisions you make about the surgery so we can pray specifically for your needs.

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words about our Crystal. She is in a bit of pain but is doing okay. She has taken up residence on the living room couch and probably will stay there for a few days. Upstairs bedrooms and air casts don't work for her. She managed a shower this evening with a lot of help. Hopefully she will be a little better tomorrow. Beth

Ok girls....I am doing pretty well. I did have a weak moment on Friday night and had Taco Bell with the family. But...when I did my weekly weigh in...I still managed to lose 2 pounds!!! :D

Now, today is the problem. We have an office meeting this morning and it is someone's b-day. I was told that we are going to have a b-day cake for him.....and, of course, it is one of my FAVORITES, and the most fattening! I know it sounds silly, but I am trying to prepare myself for it...I really have no will power with certain things. There are so few of us at the meetings, and I don't want to draw attention to myself at all for not "partaking" in the b-day celebration! I am hoping that by posting this here, it will help me to resist the temptation!

Leslie, I hope you made it okay with the birthday cake. I had to face carrot cake with cream cheese icing last night and Wed. is Bill's birthday and he wants red velvet!I am in big trouble here! I had not gained when I weighed in on Saturday but I had not lost. I was happy not to have gained. Crystal is still having a lot of pain from the sprained ankle but she had to go with us to church last night to vote on deacons for the year. She did okay. This morning I just had a feeling that she needed to see the doctor again. I called and they saw her at 10am. The doctor said she thinks it looks suspicious. She ordered an MRI but they can't do it until Friday at 5pm. The doctor thinks there may be a break that is hidden by the swelling. I am hoping she is wrong but we will see on Friday. Of course I probably won't hear back from it until next week. Crystal is pretty down about being out of commission. I am afraid she is done with cheerleading for the rest of the season and she is not going to like that. This is the last year she can cheer so she really wants to be there for all the games. I hate it for her but I can't let her make it worse by cheering until the doctor says it is okay. We are keeping up with all her school work just fine. We put a small table beside the couch and she is managing okay. She has to keep the injured foot on pillows so that it is higher than her heart and that is awkward for her to deal with but it is going to be fine. We appreciate your prayers. Beth

I hope she doesn't have a break in there....that would stink. I'll be praying that she will heal quickly so she can finish out her last year of cheerleading.

Ok....I did it! I completely passed on the cake. I didn't even let myself consider having any. (I actually didn't even look at it :) )

Thanks for helping me out...I am glad that I posted about it here...knowing I would have to tell you all the outcome worked like a charm!

Leslie, That was some real will power. Do you keep a food diary? I love what our leader says. If you bite it, write it. I try to write everything down right away so I don't forget. I am floating in water today. I am trying to get it all in but it is hard for me and I have cut way back on the diet Coke. I didn't get this size overnight and it won't go away overnight. What is the old joke? Lord give me patience, but make it quick! Beth

Leslie, That is so wonderful, you have more will power then I would of had.

Beth, I know I am like you I have a hard time with water too. I try so hard to drink alot of water but it's hard. I even go to try drinking more tea to see if that would help.

Time for sad but true confessions: I was doing well last week until my resolve & attitude fell apart over sad news from our grown son & dil -- like in the sin of unbelief or lack of trust that God is working all things out for good. So food became my comfort. My husband's words helped greatly also, & I'm trying to get back on track this week. Maybe soon I'll have a good report. In the meantime, I'm cheering for the rest of you. Keep up the great work!

I am becoming so aware of my emotional eating. I have had a rough week. (I am too blessed to be stressed.) I try to remember that quote but my resolve is slipping. A dear lady at church died unexpectedly. He sweet husband is in a nursing home with dementia and only realizes that she is gone for a few minutes at a time so he is asking for her often. It is heartbreaking. They were so active in our church until recently. The whole drama with Crystal's ankle is getting to me now. She is going to miss the big cheerleader/ football player cookout tonight. I let her go because it is WELL supervised and that is one of the few things I feel like the kids are safe at. I am overly protective if there is such a thing. I need answers about her ankle and I don't think they will tell us anything after her MRI tomorrow at 5pm. They will probably say the doctor will call me next week. I need to make sure she is okay and won't have on going problems from this. It has been a week now and she is no better. And all I want to do is eat something! Okay I am going to get through today and see what happens at the hospital tomorrow. Thanks for listening. I can't vent to my husband right now. Today is the day his officer was killed when Freddy was our local police chief. He was out until after 5am this morning at a memorial for the officer. He does this every year on the night/morning he was killed. Beth

That's good--"Too blessed to be stressed." So often I feel "too stressed to be blessed!" Beth, it sounds like you & I were in the same shape, emotionally, this week. We'll be waiting to hear good news from the doctor tomorrow. I hope your dh will be available for you emotionally, also.

Hang in there girls...take care of yourselves and if you need to take a break from focusing on the weight thing, then do it. Only you know what you need right now!

I am having a pretty rough time myself right now. I am going to post a prayer request in the christian issues area, so you can get the scoop there.

    Hugs to you all!

How have the last few days gone with the others of you, here, in taking care of your "temples?" I've been eating healthful food--just too much of it. Our bodies simply don't need too much food, no matter how good-for-you it is! I have been walking one-two miles each day & enjoying the time thinking & praying, so I've actually lost a little bit. Hoping to hear good reports from you!

Well, I have slipped up here and there. But thankfully, when I weighed in, had not gained. :) The weekends are hard ...we like to go out to eat. I am really going to get serious again today. I went another loss when I weigh in this weekend! It is going to be a beautiful day here and we plan on going on a long bike ride.

Leslie, I attended college for one trimester & one summer in Goshen, Indiana, & worked with some precious migrant children there during another summer. It's a lush, gorgeous part of the country! We went on long bike rides through a forested area, hunted for mushrooms, sat beside waterfalls, & went up into Michigan to pick blueberries. I hope you have a great bike ride today!
