If you are going to get one and have the money the Bowflex treadclimber is the best, you burn twice as much calories then a treamill..You can send away for a free DVD on it, Just go to the website.. We had a treadmill but switched to this and it gives you a better work out in my opinion. Blessings
Oh and I forgot to say I would love to join you all in losing weight. I would love to have you all for a commitment level for me. So when I do bad I can say so and so forth.. I need to lose about 15 so I just started this week...So far I have done good (for the two days!!LOL) God id good. Blessings
I have given up!! I know I will be sorry when I need to put shorts on...b/c none of mine will fit me!!!
I started over with my sister and am losing slowly. Three of my girls are starting a healthy eating program in the morning. I don't want them to end up like me with so much to have to lose.
I don't know where I've been, but I just saw this thread. You ladies are awesome! Congrats on all the weight loss and committment!!!! You are very inspiring. I need to loose about 10 pounds. My shorts are all very tight. I blame it on the drier, lol. Maybe I need to start getting serious.
That is about right where I am at. I need to lose about 10 + pounds to get into my shorts. But I like your idea of blaming it on the drier!! I say that must be my problem!!! (I wish!!!) LOL
Some of my spring clothes are tight on me. I came across this thread and had the same thought about how encouraging it was to read the posts. I am trying to fix healthier meals. Sometimes we are all so busy with practices and church that we have a bad habit of drive thru.
I could loose 10 pounds and get into my spring clothes...however, I would still need to loose 10 more. lol. I must say I have not lost a pound since starting this thread. However, it is funny this thread came up again. Since last week, I have started working out again. lol....hopfully, I can post htat I lost weight soon.
I need to start again also. With the problems I was having before this little surgery, I wasn't able to exercise well, and I basically gave up also! So back I go! I need to eat more healthfully and exercise more. I'd like to lose about 12-18 pounds! I'm not sure that my body would go down 18 pounds at my old age, ( ) but I'd surely be happy if it did! The treadmill can get boring for me! But I feel like I work really hard and get good exercise! I have to have a lot of air or I get too hot on the treadmill though. So we have an upright fan that I have blowing on me and that helps a lot!
I am doing pretty good right now. I am down 11 pounds as of this morning. I have lots to go but I am trying very hard this time. My fourteen year old has gained a lot of weight since her ankle injury in the fall and she is not happy about how she looks and feels right now. She is starting to try to lose some weight. Today is the first day for her and I have been trying to help her get ready to start. We have notebooks to write in and Katie, my older daughter, is going to join us in our efforts. Even Emily is going to try to eat better. I don't want them getting some strange eating disorder or something but I don't want them to get in my shape! My fourteen year old wants to lose 40 pounds. I am not sure she needs to lose that much but she is 5'6'' and healthy she just needs to move more and eat less junk. I know it is my fault for buying it so I am going to work on that. Beth
wow! Beth, sounds like our home. I hoping with summer months coming we can all move here and lose some weight.
A few years ago, I was talking with my sister about how good some tomatoes were that I was eating, and she said, "Oh, I wish I could afford those, but I just can't they're too expensive right now." My thought on that was (but I didn't say this to her), that she had icecream, soda, popsicles, potato chips, Twinkies, etc. in her fridge and on her shelves. It depends on priorities! If she didn't buy the junk food, she'd have enough to buy the healthy food! So I agree Beth, changing the things we buy is a big step in heading the right direction on this! And if we cut out some of the stuff we DON'T need, we CAN afford the stuff that's better for us! Now I need to actually DO that!
I've been working really hard on limiting my sweets and not having them in the house. Now, I don't crave them quite as much! It is a slow process but definitely worth it!
Ok...you guys are starting to inspire me once again. I found a great workout video that is for strengthening my back. But it is good for burning calories, too. I am doing it 3 times a week. Now...if I can just get my diet in order I would be in good shape!! (no pun intended! LOL)
I've been tramping on our indoor mini-trampoline for two 15-minute sessions a day. It's very do-able. I know it sounds minimal for those of you who faithfully use a treadmill, do aerobics, or lift weights, but it's so easy and requires very little effort (yeah!), and yet, supposedly, has great health benefits for every cell in the body because of the forces exerted at the top and bottom of each bounce, even if it's a small bounce. So, that's my commitment level to exercise at this point, until spring catches up to Kansas, and then I'll start walking again. It was encouraging to read about the struggles the rest of you have listed here--not that I'm glad it's so hard for anyone--but simply to know that I'm not the only one with these types of issues. Thanks, everyone, for sharing!
My dh wants to purchase a trampoline for the backyard. I think my family would have a blast. However, I have never known anyone who owned a trampoline and did not at one time or another made a trip to the ER for their kid. lol. So, I am bit nervous. Especially since I have a toddler. Maybe I will get a mini one...
