I think one of the main reason this hits the political parties and wether or not they support it, Is that One side wants to pay for these abortions with taxpayers money , therefore if I vote for that person who strongly is prochoice those children that have been aborted their blood is on my hands knowing full well those babies were murdered no question about it ..And as for me and many other taxpayers we are tired of bailing ppl out of their own CHOICES they made to even have sex outside of a marriage then turn around and abort because they got caught and also I for one don't want to pay for it or support murder..Thats why this is political!

quadinfamily, I think you hit it.
YES, there are exceptions and some women are raped or sick, but most women/girls are using this to get out of the consequences of their choices. I personally do not believe there is a reason to abort. Taking the child's life into our own hands completely takes the situation out of God's. If God didn't want me to carry a child, it is His choice to make, not mine.

Well, these questions may not open any more windows, I'm not sure.

Is it the role of government to take or allow the taking of human life in any circumstance? What about:

    In personal self-defense?
By a policeman in the line of duty?
    During war-time?
When a person's life is threatened by another, even if that other is an unborn baby?
For capital crimes as in state-ordered executions?

A related question: Should a Christian be involved in any of these situations--either in the taking of life or in the defending of it? And should a Christian be involved in affecting our government's policy?

(Some Christians believe that, because they belong to another Kingdom, they should have no involvement in politics and government, not even in voting. To what extent are we "our brother's keeper?")

Oops! I took so long in writing this that several other posts appeared, and this may not make sense, or it may seem to contradict what has just been written, when it wasn't meant to at all! I'm sorry, if it looks like that!

I also have been in a rock and a hard place , I was 17 when I got pregnant and I was kicked out of my house and was told the only way I was coming home is if I put the baby up for adoption , I being very responsible for my actions and carelessness was not about to make MY BABY pay! So I moved in with my brother till I was 18 then moved in and married the daddy ..there are options out there and plenty of resources to help , you just have to want the baby bad enough to fight for it ..I also have a dear friend who's boyfriend cheated on her and left her because she wouldn't abort! But she too found a way to take care of her dear son and was a single mom doing it alone for 3 yrs till God blessed her with a wonderful husband who adopted him! There are sob stories in just about everyones life, that being said God is the giver and taker of life and I don't want to live a life of sin by accepting abortion and calling it a CHOICE

God also gave us free will and the ability to make our own choices good or bad right? To make the right decisions in this life.

I am Trying to understand here please dont get offended just trying to understand what you said. I feel like I am missing something.

    I won't get offended. I am glad you asked.:D

You are correct that God gave us freedom to make choices in this life but the choices we make effect how we relate with God. Does our action seperate us from God or draw us closer? Does having a "choice" mean that we have a right to kill? There are many justifications for sin because it makes it appear minimal but in the end, it is still sin.
Basically, there are Godly choices and ungodly choices. The choices we make seperate us from God or draws us near. In the end, God isn't going to ask if we made a right choice for "our lives". But rather, did we make a choice that placed our trust and faith in his unfailing love, knowing he would see us through our situation.

I do not know if I explained myself correctly.

Okay Sam, I reread your post and I do not think I answered your question. God wants us to make a choice that will glorify him here on earth and all our choices in this life have eternal consequences.

Hopefully I did better this time.;)

Ok thanks for answering I truly understand that, on why we should make the right choice to glorify him but how do you explain telling someone else to make the right choice too? As in this case to or not have an abortion.

I can see trying to talk to them, trying to give them other options this would be a good thing to do, I can see God wanting us to do this, but how can you at the end make their final choice for them? In this case ban abortion.

Again not trying to offend or argue really just trying to understand.

Honestly, we can't decide what a person will do in the end. All we can do is share that God has a better plan. Whether they accept His plan is up to them.
Even if we banned abortion, I am positive people will still do it. But at least if it is banned, my tax dollars wouldn't be going to pay for somebodys abortion.

    Noted

Thanks for taking the time to answer Patty.

Its unfortunate that the government can't have a better program to better to help educate the younger girls especially in smaller towns.

I was at our local store awhile back looking for pregnancy test couldnt find it, so I asked the clerk they had it up front locked in a safe  the condoms were in there too.

I asked they said the teenagers are embarrased to ask for them so they steal them so they finally had to lock them away. This is only 30min away from a major city where they could probablly buy it without the whole town knowing but they still dont. So sad in this time and age.

To me, the perpetrator has given up their right to life in these circumstances (except for a mother's life being threatened by the unborn baby). The perpretrator has CHOSEN to put himself in a dangerous situation, one that he KNOWS is wrong. He accepts that death is a possibility of his choice. I feel we have a RESPONSIBILITY to defend ourselves, our families, and our property.

This is the link for Peace Officers for Christ International. I posted the link for why Christians can be police officers and their right as Christians to uphold the law. If it is read, please read the whole page so scriptures do not seem like they are not applicable to today.
    http://www.pofci.org/romans13.htm

I think this can be applied to all these questions as well, with the exception of the person's life threatened by an unborn baby.

I am adopted, and could easily have been an abortion. But I was given another life, and for that I am thankful to my birth mom, whom I will never meet.

Ever since I found out that people can remember things from the womb, I have come to fully realize that babies are not only "developing fetuses" but are sentient beings. People have recalled full conversations between the father and mother and other sensations from the womb. Our religion (which is not Christian) is VERY against abortion for this reason. As soon as there is conception, there is LIFE. We know that we are spirits inhabiting a body, and when our bodies die our spirits live on in Eternity. The spirit gives the baby life at conception.

I truly believe that is IS our job to hold everyone in our society responsible for the ills. It is our failure to hold others responsible for their actions that has led us to our decline. We like to pretend that what the person next to us does is not our concern and we won't tell them what to do. A group that fails to hold the ethics in of its members is doomed to fail, as our society is failing.

Now, I am all for the government getting out of my life, I don't like the government telling me what to do. I don't want them telling me to wear a seat belt or making me wear a helmet.

So I don't believe that its the government's job to handle the abortion issue. The government is not there to make us moral. It's there to make society work well; make traffic laws etc.

I believe the abortion issue is a Religious issue, it deals with life and the spirit and morals, the very things religion are made of. It is our job to get religion out there. It's our job to bring others to light, whatever religion you are. There are many religions to choose from, I respect them all. If there was more religion out there (and the government is doing a great job of keeping it out of the schools where it is needed) if more people knew about the spirit and God and morals such as the 10 commandments (our religion has similar rules) they would not be having premarital sex, they would not be raping others, they would not be beating each other, they would not be horrible fathers and mothers. I saw Christians lining the streets this weekend with anti-abortion signs. And I was thinking yes, this is where the abortion issue belongs. And I was glad they were standing there with their signs.

That is my opinion. Thank you for reading.

I do what I can is what I believe. This is where I understand the ProLifers decision on trying to help.

I really liked your post Free spirt it was nice to read. I also saw them lined up in our local small town streets this Sunday. One of them was a very good friend of mine I waved at her. She said she wasnt suppose to wave but she did hehe

Before I even saw the signs and what they said I told her "I saw these people lined up on the street with signs and I was thinking "Who are these nuts then I got closer and saw you!" She laughed.

She is a big supporter of ProLife she is a doll.

    My two cents

I am anti-abortion, not pro-life. I do not believe in abortion but I do believe in the death penalty. Thus some say I am not pro-life. The issue of A woman's right to choose is a touchy one. Most Christians are against it (as I am), based on the thought that life begins at conception. As far a voting, I don't think abortion will ever be illegal again in the US no matter who is in the White House. I think the point that most pro-lifer's have is in electing/supporting people that uphold the same world view that they have. That is a major issue. I personally cannot support a politician who says a woman can kill her child. Some people say "what about rape or incest?" What about it? Try adoption. There are thousands if not millions of people looking to adopt kids in this country.

I've said before that what do you do in the case of incest, rape, etc? Thankfully, a female has a choice as it stands now, and I hope that never changes.

It's not fair to expect a female to carry a child she does not want. I'd much rather see an abortion done, than see the female have the child and not care for it properly, maybe even abuse it. I've read many stories of women killing their kids, boyfirends killing them, and one 'mom' gave her little boy to a dealer in exchange for drugs. Guess what happened to that little boy? No, that 'mom' needed to go to Planned Parenthood.
