Great job Blizzard! Losing weight is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Some people have told me I didn't do it the "hard way" because I had gastric bypass in 2007. All I know is I used to weight almost 300 pounds and was on high doses of blood pressure medicine and now I am at 172, feel great and my bp is back to normal. I figure my WLS was just a tool and I made an informed decision to use it. I abused it and gained some weight back and now I am under where I was at my lowest in 2008. Everyone is different and has to do what works for them. As long as the pounds are gone and I feel better, I am a happy camper!

171 this morning! I am so excited to be near the 160s. I can't even remember when I was ever that low. I know it still is a lot, but for me it is wonderful! My 15 year old is even impressed!

So I took a couple more back off. Only thing is, we are having such hectic days here recently. A lot of days where we are on the go and on the road from morning till evening. Eating out is the worst when trying to watch what you eat.

On top of this on other days, DH is still over exercising and over eating stuff I do not need. It just adds to the temptations for me.

I am a grown up and can handle it but its nice to vent about it all.

Lots of yard work will help now that it is not raining EVERYDAY.

I am at 170 now. I was worried that I would have trouble this week because we had our Youth Camp at church and I cooked and fed everyone three meals a day all week. I made up my mind to plan ahead and I did fine. I even had a piece of pizza on the last night and enjoyed it with no guilt at all. We had a wonderful week and I grew to love a couple of girls in the Youth Group who I had struggled to like in the past. God is so good!

I had not had lost a thing since Saturday but last night Emily wanted to go walk at the park with me. I had not been in a while because of the weather. We went and really had a nice time. This moning I was at 169! I am thrilled! Feb. 27th I was at 218 and today 169! Can't wait to go back to the doctor in Aug. and see what she says. I think I will stop being so lazy and get back to walking every day!

I think my spouse is purposely sabotaging me. Today he snuck off to the station and picked up hunks of pizza for my dd and me. Urrrgh.

That is rough. I love pizza! I allow myself one or two slices of Dominos cheese pizza once in a while. Usually just one but if I can work it into my calorie limit I have two. I love cheese pizza! Yesterday I ate a piece of ice cream cake at a Youth party. It was so good and I enjoyed it a lot. I have a birthday party tonight for my sister's 60th birthday and I made her favorite. Strawberry shortcake. I will eat a little of it no matter what! I will be careful about the rest of the food there and just enjoy the party and talking to friends and family. At least that is my plan!

It is amazing how many times a week , or even how many times a day food is an issue. I mean really! I am not complaining that I have to have discipline, but that some days it is a repeat occurrence all day long.

Church functions, parties, meetings, visiting friends, when out with family, grocery shopping, stopping at Sam's etc etc.

If only they had that problem in the rest of the world. Its is really an overindulgent society we live in and a shame that we are not limiting intake and sending the savings to those who are starving. Just think that it is not uncommon for people to practice various forms of bulimia with hunger in the world. We try to send what we can and sponsor 5 families but I still find myself indulging in things that are not even good for me all of the time. My environment is too food rich. LOL

One birthday party plus one weekend trip to the beach equals a small gain BUT, I am not stressing about it one bit! The party was a blast and my sister loved it and the beach weekend with two of my daughters and my oldest grandson was such a treat. I ate carefully but let myself have any extras I wanted. Today I was back at 172 and back on water water water! Emily and I plan to walk a lot more for the rest of the summer and we actually got back at it last night. I go back for my doctor visit next Monday. I am excited to see what she thinks.

I bought some water bottles at the grocery. I find that If I keep one on the computer desk, and in the car and take one to church on Wednesdays it helps me avoid drinking soda. I don't mind warm or room temp water, and I can leave them in place until empty. I am just lazy enough to drink the water on the desk instead of going to the fridge upstairs for something else.

I would keep a water cup or glass on the lav but dh is ocd and that will not work.

Last month I went for a fitness assessment at our gym, which revealed that I need to lose a minimum of 40 pounds--ideally 49. We then left for a 10-day trip where the hotels had free full breakfasts every morning and evening appetizers. Needless to say, I over-indulged :(

For the past 2.5 weeks I have been taking water fitness classes, hitting the treadmill, and doing circuit training at the gym and eating much healthier. I cut out all meat and dairy and I have shed 12 pounds so far as of this morning!

After yesterday's workout, I am sore, but I am determined to get back into the gym today. Blocktober Fest (an annual October block party in our neighborhood) always starts with a 2-mile or 5-mile fun run. I have registered for the 2-mile run this year as motivation to continue working out.

I keep water bottles sitting around too. It keeps me hydrated and I don't drink as much Diet Coke. I try to drink 16 ounces of water right after I get up. It is helping. I was up another pound yesterday but this morning I am back down two.

I have been on the Trim Healthy Mamma eating plan for 4 months now. I am slowly moving more.. exercising.. a huge deal for me. I am down 36 pounds! I feel great and best of all I feel healthier. I no longer crave cokes, sugar laden sweets. We have removed processed foods from our diet. I even find myself craving water now.. something I would have snubbed my nose at... I'm excited about the new me!

Way to go Shelby! Isn't it funny to crave water? The first time I caught myself reaching for a bottle of water instead of Diet Coke, I laughed at myself for being shocked.

Someone very dear to me has asked me to go with them to a weight loss surgery informational meeting next week. I am so excited for them and really hope their insurance will cover the surgery. I know this is life changing and should not be taken lightly but this person has been trying to lose weight for years and has high blood pressure that is not being controled with medicine. I am praying this is the answer they need to get healthy. I know some will not agree but we all have to do what is right for us.

I went back to my weight loss doctor yesterday and she said, "Well you started on Feb. 27th and told me your goal was to lose 40 pounds. You have met and passed that goal!" She wanted to know what I wanted to do now. Make a new goal, work on maintaining the loss or just think about it a while before I decided. I already knew the answer because my BMI is still not in the normal range. I told her I wanted to lose a little more and get into the normal range for once. She got the machine and checked. She said I was just slightly into the overweight area so she agreed with me staying on the program and coming back in Sept. I know it sounds silly and is only a number but it is important to me. I got down to 167 this week but today I am at 168 again. That is okay. I know it will drop eventually. I think I have to lose about 5 pounds to be in the normal BMI. It will happen!

My hubby found an ebook one day last week about reversing the effects of diabetes and he printed it to bring it home to me to read. He read it as well and now he's on board wanting to get up and get moving so now I have someone to walk with. He doesn't walk at the pace I do (and I don't expect him to) but he's out and mobile again hoping to shed weight and have a positive impact on his diabetes.

Note: in the early stages of the disease, I'm sure it probably is reversible and if one were to follow what is being said in the article written by a doctor, I bet they could fly below the radar but I think in my husbands case, the damage is done and can't be changed (but I'm not about to tell him that - hoping he will continue to get out and walk with me - at the very least to slow down the progression).
