Well, I really did not want to cook on my birthday but it appears I will have to. My dd has Karate and swimming. My ds also has swimming. My dh has Karate after work. So, I guess I will make it easy on myself and make faijitas. I bought it at the meat market...the meat, seasoning and veggies all together. I did that on purpose for a busy night. Looks like tonight is the night.
we are having meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn and rolls, we really ate bad this weekend, I thought we would have a good sit down dinner, plus I don't think any one is still too sick to not eat. PS: did anyone see the comic stip in Sunday's paper , Baby blues (my fav.) it was the difference between meatloaf and hamburer is the bun (so the mom serves the meatloaf on a bun.......... cute.
I wonder if I could get away with that with my dh??? NOT!!!! He would know. He has never eaten meatloaf and probably never will. Dh, Elijah, Gianna and my dd had grilled cheese, with it, Dh had Lipton noodle soup, Elijah had Ramon noodles, Gianna and dd had Chicken and Rice soup. I had crab patties (not so good, I need a good recipe). I would of come over Amy, but just didn't have the time, meatloaf, mp, corn and rolls sounds so good, Mmmmmmm
I think we are going to have either taco's or chilli mac. I really like chilli mac if my hubby makes it, but I'm not as good at it as he is. So, if he doesn't get home from work in time, then it's tacos
Well, we had tacos last night b/c my daughter asked for it. Mexican is a BIG favorite in our house Guess living in Phoenix rubbed off on us! LOL. Well, tonight, we are having Salisbury Steak with sour cream mushroom gravy. MMMMMMM...i cannot wait. I think we'll have some skin-in garlic mashed potatoes and green beans too! I CANNOT WAIT. I LOVE Salisbury Steak and my butcher had some beauties last week that I just could not resist!
I made Chicken and Egg Noodles last night for supper. I'm not sure what I'm going to make for tonight. I'm in a bit of a 'slump' when it comes to coming up with ideas right now. Blah.
dozermom, whatcha got on hand, maybe we can help. We are having hamburgers and fries. Mac does the grocery shopping and he got hamburger that needed to be sold that day with a $2 coupon thats why we'll have the meatloaf, hamburgers and spaghetti, and I made my own hot dog chili the other day too. I I got 5 meals from $10 of hamburger, plus he LOVES meatloaf sandwiches.
Ohio Grandma, if your Dh, doesn't like a traditional meatloaf, make them small and call them something else. Even hamburger size.
If dh sees anything in his hamburg, he is not happy, we went to have lunch with some friends at a campground, she made hamburgs, she had put garlic in them (they were really good) dh wouldn't eat them, he smelled the garlic. She made him plain ones -he doesn't even like ketchup, mustard, relish or mayo on his hamburgs, PLAIN (with AMERICAN only - cheese) he is so weird when it comes to food. I will try them and make them smaller - I will eat them.
We had beef tips and noodles, peas and applesauce for dinner. Dh loves this - he ate 3 LARGE (serving size) bowls of this plus 1/2 can of peas - he passed on the applesauce. He eats so much and doesn't gain hardly any weight???
I ended up making pork chops, fried zucchini, au grautin potatoes, and mandarin oranges for supper last night. I really need to get back to my meal planning so I don't get this 'blah' feeling. I think I may make cheeseburgers and fries or mac & cheese tonight. Maybe green beans or baked beans to go along?
Dh and Gianna had the "normal, favorite" hamburgs and french fries. Elijah and I had stir fry with rice, yummy!!!
We are having Spinach Salad and Falafel "meatballs" tonight. A friend is coming over and bringing stuff for the salad: spinach, strawberries, pine nuts, Raspberry Walnut viniaigrette, and I forget what else may be in it. But it tastes GREAT! The falafel will be the protein that will help it stick with me long enough to not get hungry before bedtime. We're trying to eat more healthfully. I've been reading up on it. They say that eating a big breakfast is important, because you use up those calories all throughout the day. If you eat big meals at night, your body stores those calories as fat! Yikes! So, we're trying to eat healthier overall, but especially healthy, easily digestable foods at night. It's opposite of what we're used to, but I think we can adjust. Pretty soon we'll be hungry for those big meals in the morning, cuz we had our smaller meal in the evening. We'll see how it works....
We're having leftover spaghetti (which I made last night instead of the sausage casserole I had planned) tonight.
Okay, so I ended up making Salmon Patties, mac 'n cheese and baked beans instead of cheeseburgers tonight. I really need to get on the ball and try to keep up with my meal planning ahead of time. It's SO MUCH less stressful!
Tonight dh is going to his parents house for a gathering of his cousins, I have decided to stay home, there is so much to do. His mom and aunts are making supper, not sure what they will have. We are having leftovers - went to Red Lobster for lunch (daughter in laws birthday) and we all have leftovers. Ice Cream Cake for dessert (it's the shape of a peanut M&M) Gianna picked it out.
